Is this stealth game good for HERE and now?
Near future, in a remote research facility named HERE. The AI system controlling the facility got infected by an unknown virus and subsequently went rogue, starting to attack humans. Dr. Liu decides to infiltrate this lost facility on his own to face the AI, uncover the truth, and save humanity. Not your traditional protagonist, Dr. Liu, an ordinary researcher who had absolutely zero combat training, will have to infiltrate the facility on his own. However, as a tech-savvy researcher, he is able to hack, disrupt, and manipulate all these rogue AIs to guide himself through this dangerous automated facility. Make use of the doctor’s full arsenal of gadgets to hack a way inside and out!
Evotinction has you sneaking around a research facility with rogue killer AI’s. Your character Dr. Lui is no fighter, so has to rely on gadgets and stealth to get around without being picked off by the AI’s.
The team must be fans of MGS V, as none other than the legendary Donna Burke acts and sings for the game. It definitely has a Metal Gear vibe to it, though it does feel very isolated with little amount of people, but plenty of AI’s waiting to kill you. The story is pretty good and did enough to make me push on through to the end.
Dr. Lui will be able to hack the AI’s or take them out with gadgets he comes across. Stealth will always be your ally here though. The controls are pretty solid, I always felt in control of my movements and if I got caught by the AI, it was my own fault.
The visuals are superb thanks to the use of Unreal Engine 5. Framerate is consistent throughout, the soundtrack is great and voice-acting is impressive too. I didn’t encounter any glitches or bugs through my playthrough, so it was solid in terms of performance.
The Verdict
Evotinction is a great sci-fi stealth title that will please fans of the genre. It may not add anything new to it, but it does provide a decent narrative and great gameplay. Definitely one I’d recommend if you are a stealth fan.
