Can you solve this rodent problem?
As the chief anti-rodent specialist aboard a passenger ship you must rid the ship of mice. Explore the ship and eat the mice in this third person action walk-em-up.
Ship’s Cat is a game made by solo developer Daniel Caddy. You play as a cat who wanders a passenger ship, killing rodents. You’ll come across a good number of NPCs who are scared of mice, so you’ll hear a good bit of dialogue from the passengers and crew as you wonder through the ship.
The cat handles well, even if the game can come across as a bit clunky in areas. I did come across a few glitchy moments like getting stuck in walls or clipping through them.
The animations are a bit on the janky side and the game does take a weird turn with its disco and radioactive rodents later on, but it did make me laugh. The overall game takes a few hours to complete and while it won’t set the world alight, it definitely made me smile throughout.
The visuals are a bit of a mixed bag and the framerate can be a bit up and down in areas, but there’s nothing game-breaking here.
The Verdict
Ship’s Cat is a short, bizarre game. It has some good ideas and its impressive from a solo developer, I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next.
