Nicktoons & The Dice of Destiny is a ARPG crossover between many different Nicktoons characters including TMNT and SpongeBob SquarePants to name a few. It’s light-hearted fun and while it’s on the easy side as it’s aimed more towards the younger crowd, it still can have its challenging moments. Combat itself isn’t anything you haven’t seen before, but it gets the job done. It handles well overall, though the game does become repetitive after a while.

The real fun comes with playing with others, which makes it frustrating that it only offers local 4 player co-op. Online play would have opened up the game to a wider audience, so it feels like a missed opportunity overall. The quests are nicely varied with a lot of different loot to earn throughout and each character handles differently, so you’ll need to experiment to figure out just what your preference is.

The visuals are a bit of a mixed bag, but it retains that Nicktoons charm and runs at a steady framerate throughout. Voice-acting is authentic to the source material as is the soundtrack.

The Verdict

If you’ve played an ARPG before and if you’re a big Nicktoons fan, then you’ll thoroughly enjoy what they’ve done with Dice of Destiny. I think the major problem besides a lack of online co-op is that they’ve played it quite safe with how ARPGs work, so it doesn’t try and take any risks or do anything to make it stand out other than having the Nicktoons characters in it.
