Is this seed worth planting?
Seed of Life is an epic adventure game about the persistence of life. You’re Cora, the last known survivor of Lumia, a dying planet. Your only hope to save your homeworld is to activate the Seed of Life and rekindle the sun once again. Will you be the light that conquers the darkness?
Seed of Life originally came out on PC back in 2021, I hadn’t heard of it at the time but in looking into it for this review, I could see there was potential even if it was critiqued as having quite a few technical issues but was praised for it’s concept, ambition and very small development team of only two people. Maybe that last point is why the game has taken until 2024 for a console version, but was it worth waiting for?
The game is more of a platformer than a puzzler and it’s a relatively short game. It can feel a bit rough around the edges, but underneath that is a decent game that might just be worth your time.
The visuals are impressive, but the framerate does tend to have a few issues. It feels like with a bit more polish, this could have been an amazing game but instead it falls just short of that. The voice-acting is decent and the music is well done, so it’s not all bad news.
The Verdict
The developers of Seed of Life should be impressed with what they have accomplished here. It may have it’s issues and feel a bit rough around the edges, but underneath that is an undeniably fun game that is so close to being a brilliant one.
