PS5 Review: Bio Inc. Redemption

Should you take this cure?

Bio Inc. Redemption is a complex biomedical simulator in which you make life or death decisions. Create the ultimate illness to infect and torment your victim or play as the head of a medical team and hopefully find a cure to save your patient. Will you be the plague or preserve humanity? Including over 600 actual diseases, virus, symptoms, diagnostic tests, treatments and other medical conditions, Bio Inc.: Redemption is frighteningly realistic. It will captivate you for hours, bringing you into a microscopic world of epic plague proportions! As the sequel to the worldwide mobile hit Bio Inc. (enjoyed by over 15 million players), Bio Inc.: Redemption was rebuilt from the ground up to make it the most realistic and visually stunning medical condition simulator available.

Bio Inc. Redemption is a strange game. It looks like it belongs on iOS/Android devices, but it’s for consoles. You essentially create cures or viruses by selecting different options in a menu that takes some getting used to. The campaign is restrictive, but you can play the sandbox mode which gives you total freedom without any restrictions.

It’s not the most in-depth simulator I’ve played and it doesn’t really know if it wants to be a serious sim or an amusing one with gory moments and sound effects. It can be fun in short doses, but it does start to lose its appeal after a while. I’m not saying it’s a bad game by any stretch, it’s just limited to what it can do. The visuals are pretty good and the framerate seems solid, other than that there’s not much else to say.

The Verdict

Bio Inc. Redemption won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, It doesn’t quite have the longevity of other simulator games, but it is fun in short bursts.
