PS5/PS4 Review: Aero the Acro-Bat

Is this sequel as acrobatic as the first?

The aerialist extreme, Aero the Acro-Bat bounds back into the spotlight once again to stop the wicked industrialist, Edgar Ektor! Aero has entered a new realm of enchantment and must now use all his acrobatic prowess to foil a criminal plot known only as “Plan B!”; Join Aero as he discovers new friends (and enemies) in a world custom built for his high-flying adventures.

Roughly a month ago, I reviewed the first Aero the Acro-Bat game and found it to be a highly enjoyable platformer. I didn’t expect the second game to come out quite so soon afterwards, but I’m glad to be jumping back into the series.

I found the sequel to be more polished and far more enjoyable than the original, which gives me even higher hopes for the third instalment. Each level feels better to play and looks better in terms of design, I was impressed with the leap in quality here. The interface is a bit different from the first entry, which is a bit odd but other than that it’s business as usual.

The game lasts about the same amount of time to complete as the original did, but I have a feeling this one will stick with you more. The difficulty is still pretty tough, but save states and accessibility options can be your saving grace, if you choose to use them.

The sequel looks pretty much the same as the first game, which isn’t a bad thing. The music is still impressive and the overall performance is still solid.

The Verdict

Aero the Acro-Bat 2 feels like a more polished game than the first. It’s more fun, more memorable and makes me want the next entry as soon as possible.
