PS5 Review: Finding Frankie

Can you parkour your way out of this horror show?

Finding Frankie invites YOU to a true experience of terror as you compete in a terrifyingly twisted parkour show. Stealthily navigate around horrifying characters and swing through challenging parkour courses. This is one game show you won’t want to miss!

Horror games like animatronic nightmares are nothing new since the likes of FNAF or Poppy Playtime. Finding Frankie takes a slightly different approach to this by making it a more fast-paced, parkour experience that feels like a blend of those games and Fall Guys. It is nerve-racking and fun, but does it stumble across the finish line?

My major problem with the game is that the controls feel a bit clunky, especially when trying to swing from poles, which can cause a quick game over as you are naturally caught by Frankie. Parkour games only work well when the controls are tight, examples being Mirror’s Edge and the Dying Light series.

The story in Finding Frankie is paper-thin as well, so don’t go expecting the same level of lore as in the aforementioned FNAF or Poppy Playtime games. I do like the art style and the framerate is solid, I just wish the controls were tuned up a bit to avoid silly deaths.

The Verdict

Finding Frankie is quite a short game, and manoeuvring can be a pain due to the clunky controls, but if you are looking for your next animatronic fix and can overlook this, then you’ll have a fun time parkouring.
