Is this game purr-fect?
An abandoned cardboard box stands in front of a once beautiful house. A cat needs help and is waiting for you! In Cat Rescue Story, you take in cats, care for and feed them, play with them, treat all the kitties and when the cats are fully cared for, you can find a new pet lover for the cats. At the same time, you renovate and decorate the old house and make room for many new kitties. An exciting cat game with many challenging tasks!
Cat Rescue Story lets you design your own character before beginning, afterwards you find a cat abandoned at your doorstep. You take it in, feed it, treat it and play with it and before you know it, more and more turn up at your door and need rehoming.
You will need to satisfy each cat’s individual needs before it can be rehoused. You will get to renovate and decorate the house as you progress, which opens up new options for the cats too. The typical things like grooming and feeding is simple enough, while treating them feels like a mini-game. Playing with them takes the form of other mini-games where you control the cat itself and have it run through mazes against the clock and so on. It’s all very simple and luckily doesn’t become stressful at all.
It’s one of those games you can sit back and relax with. There’s no pressure other than you might feel overwhelmed with the number of cats you have, but you can take your time to meet their need and rehome them when you are ready to.
The visuals are pretty basic, but get the job done. The framerate seems consistent and the music is passable. The interface is easy to get to grips with and the controls are too, though it can be a bit clunky and glitchy at times. I had to restart the game once or twice as I was locked in a menu, but luckily it autosaved beforehand. Hopefully it’s something that will be fixed in an update.
The Verdict
While it’s currently a bit glitchy and clunky in its current state, Cat Rescue Story is a nice chilled game that you can play at your own pace. It’s far from purr-fect, but it’ll do for meow…
