Can you crack the case?
Solve logic puzzles and crack multiple cases in a cosy noir London using reason, not guesswork. Murders have taken place, witness statements conflict and the alibis don’t add up. Everyone has a motive, and only clear logic reveals the truth. The famous ‘Big Smoke’ doesn’t slow down, and neither does the work. You’ll tackle three distinct story cases spread across the iconic city, from a concert gone wrong to a rather famous clock tower. They climb in difficulty as you go, each asking for sharper, longer chains of deduction than the last. Prove your calibre and outthink everything the city can throw at you.
Case Solved: The London Files has you don your detective cap on a bunch of murders throughout the city. It gives you a cursor to select witnesses and clues on the screen, then you deduce the questions for that screen such as motive before moving on to the next scenario. It’s simple but gets the job done and while the game isn’t particularly long, it doesn’t outstay its welcome.
I’m guessing by the fact they’ve given the game a subtitle that they are planning other games in other cities, which I wouldn’t object to if the writing improves on each new entry. There is some humour to be found here in the writing but some of it falls flat at times.
I got through The London Files in a few hours and while it doesn’t really have anything in terms of replayability once done, it was an interesting experience. The visuals are simple but have a nice charm to them. I didn’t come across any glitches during my playthrough.
The Verdict
Case Solved: The London Files is quite a simple and short game, but it was an interesting one. With some small improvements to the UI and writing, a sequel could be amazing.
