It’s been a few years since the PS3 HD remixes of the Kingdom Hearts games and with version 2.8 coming out earlier this year, it makes sense for Square-Enix to port over the rest to the PS4. The 1.5 and 2.5 Remix does exactly what you would imagine…it has all 4 games and 2 cinematic remasters. It runs at 1080p/60FPS or 4K/60FPS on PS4 Pro.

What is important is that finally the whole Kingdom Hearts saga is on one console. Trophy conditions have also been updated, some difficulty ones stack…while the trophy for collecting all Gummi Ship blueprints in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix has been reduced to getting only 30. Besides that and 4K support for Pro, there is no new content…but considering the amount on offer here, it’s hardly surprising and it’s nice for those who missed out on the PS3 remasters to have another chance to get into the series.

We’re talking 4 platinum trophies and in total, over 200 individual trophies to unlock. This will take considerable time and for it’s price tag, great value for money. It would have been nice for them to actually make Donald Duck useful in combat, but at least it’s true to the original.

The Verdict

It’s great to finally have the whole saga on PS4, with 2.8 out as well…there really is no better time to dive into the series or to catch up on it. It’s a hard sell if you’ve already done the PS3 versions, but there’s new trophy lists and 4K support if you have a 4KTV and PS4 Pro. In any case, it’s great value for what’s on offer and should be part of any PS4 owner’s collection.
