Murder on the dancefloor…
Victorian London is in peril. Jack the Ripper stalks the streets, tempting immortal Arthurian heroes, Sir Lancelot Du Lac and Morgana Le Fey, back to English shores. Will they arrive in time to end his reign of terror?
It’s been a long, long time since I reviewed anything for PC but was compelled to review this point-and-click adventure as those were always my favourite type of PC game and much easier to play on the laptop that I’m writing on. The game lets you control both Du Lac and Le Fey, but Le Fey has been transformed into a talking dog by Merlin, but on the plus side she can now talk to other animals and get information out of them.
The two work very well together and the voice-acting is superb, full of emotion, sharp wit and brilliant writing overall. The point-and-click aspect itself is a bit hit and miss as the puzzles are all easily solvable and offers little to no challenge, but it’s the story itself that stands out and makes me hopeful of a sequel that can up the stakes in terms of difficulty, but overall the plot and characters are what make this game stand out.
In terms of visuals, Du Lac & Fey almost has a Telltale (RIP Telltale) look to it with it’s characters while it runs smoothly and the locations are nicely detailed. The load times aren’t too long either, which is always a plus in my book.
The Verdict
The mystery of Du Lac and Le Fey is a compelling one and a great twist to make Merlin a villain to the duo. It may not be the longest game or even be challenging, but it’s story and setting more than make up for that. Let’s hope there’s a sequel that can up the ante!
