Most Anticipated Game Releases For Holiday 2012

Holiday season is practically upon us and that means it’s time to gear up for this year’s crop of games. And boy is it a good-looking list. Regardless of your console of choice, there’s something out there for every type of gamer.

Assassins Creed: III

The highly anticipated “Assassins Creed: III” came out October 30 and it looks even smoother and prettier than its predecessors. There are also some incredibly cool new aspects to the gameplay including dual-weapon fighting and a revamped and perfected movement style that has hundreds of new ways for Connor to move around in the world. According to Gamefront.com, there will also be two types of guides available for the game, standard and collector’s edition. There are also full-scale military battles with hundreds of soldiers, and naval battles in which players can control the ship itself and do battle against the British. The game has received rave reviews and should be on everyone’s Christmas list this year.

Far Cry 3

Originally scheduled for release earlier this past September, gamers have been anxiously awaiting “Far Cry 3” which is now scheduled for release on Nov. 29 in Europe and Dec. 4 in North America, according to PCMag.com. As developers polish this first-person shooter game from Ubisoft, gamers can expect an improvement from previous games in the series including a 10-times larger terrain of the island. The goal is to take over and escape the enormous island while fighting the pirate protagonists by disabling radio towers and outposts and collecting and unlocking weapons. Besides pirates, the island is also inhabited by a lot of animals that can either be your enemy or used in your favor.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

“Call of Duty: Black Ops II” is getting a lot of gamers very excited. For fans of the first-person shooter series, this newest installment has a lot to offer. This is first in the series that will have an individual campaign for zombie-killing, one of the best things about World at War and Black Ops. This game also has two connected storylines, one set in the Cold War and one in 2025, which should mean lots of cool new guns, planes and bombs. Black Ops II is also taking cues from other popular FPS and allowing the storyline to be affected by character actions, which should make the warfare more interesting and allow for multiple outcomes.

LittleBigPlanet Karting

For those looking for a little more lighthearted gameplay, or if there are younger gamers on your holiday shopping list, look no further than “LittleBigPlanet Karting.” An expansion on the very popular LBP series, this new game gives players all the customization options of the first game, but now players can race each other in giant stadiums filled with dozens of different weapons, boosters and bonuses. Players can also design their own weapons and studios for more complicated playing. The series’ success was based on LBP’s un-serious approach to play, and this feeling is continued in Karting. The game is great for younger kids, gamers who don’t have the time to commit to serious story games or parents looking for a game to play with their children.
