Wii Review: 101-in-1 Sports Megamix

101 reasons to hate sport games forever…

Those who read my DS review of 101-in-1 Sports Megamix will know that I was hardly pleased with the compilation of the so called “game”. But surely, the Wii version can’t be any worse, can it?

Oh I’m afraid that was wishful thinking on my part. The Wii version surpasses the awfulness of the DS version easily; thanks to even worse games and still the stupid idea to lock away a majority of the games until you complete the other ones first. The games are laughably bad and are the worst I’ve played all year. The motion controls of the Wii serve as nothing more than to waggle or point and shoot targets, so it’s pretty useless and pointless.

One game is a race across a track, but it has some of the worst response I’ve ever seen in a game. Other games include incredibly fast archery; rock climbing that doesn’t work; a sack race where you just waggle the remote fast to win and many, many other pointlessly, awful games.

At least the terrible nature is consistent, which is more than can be said for the difficulty which varies from one game to the next…one can be super easy and the next can be painfully difficult, mostly because of duff controls. You can play with your friends, but why you would want to is beyond me.

It’s not even a nice looking game. It has terrible visuals that wouldn’t even belong on the PS1, let alone the Wii. It’s about as basic a game as you can imagine and has no redeeming features. Sound effects are also awful and unrealistic, while the menu music is annoying.

The Verdict

101-in-1 Sports Megamix is the turkey of the year. It’s truly an awful game that has not one shining moment where I can say I enjoyed myself. Each game is excruciatingly bad to play, do yourself a favour and avoid this like the plague.
