PS5 Review: Viewfinder

Smile and say cheese?

Challenge perception, redefine reality, and reshape the world around you with an instant camera. Viewfinder is a new single player game offering gamers hours of interesting and fun experiences while uncovering the mysteries left behind.

Viewfinder is a unique first-person puzzler where you pick up photographs and pictures, as well as taking your own through an instant camera and placing them in the game world to do things like create bridges, enter entirely new areas or rotating them to make objects fall out and a few good other surprises too.

It’s surreal to see you suddenly walking through a photograph then a watercolour painting. The puzzles are clever and the game looks superb with it’s vast array of colours and different types of pictures for you to either enter or interact with.

I went through the game in around 7-8 hours, but it could be different depending on the player. The story is simple but does enough to warrant your exploration of this world and the beauty within it. The controls are easy to get to grips with and the framerate is solid throughout. Did I already mention how stunning the game is?

The Verdict

Viewfinder is a very smart puzzle game with amazing use of colours, filters and just clever design. It may be brief but it’s definitely one you’ll never forget. There’s even a free demo to try, so you have no excuse not to check it out.
