What solution will you choose?
The Trolley Solution is a compilation of point-and-click minigames based on the famous thought experiment originally proposed by Philippa Foot.
I actually hadn’t heard of The Trolley Problem thought experiment until I watched an episode of The Good Place, since then I’ve seen it in multiple shows and games including High on Life as an example. The Trolley Solution gives you a number of similar scenarios that will unlock more levels as you make your choices with what levers you pull.
There’s a bit more to it than that with some minigames having you do other things than just pulling levers. Some have you line up objects so that the trolley hits them in a specific order, as well as changing perspective to make it harder. It’s a simple idea but one that works well, especially since you’ll need to make multiple decisions on some stages and replaying them to get the other outcome will unlock more levels as a result, so you basically have to make each scenario play out.
It didn’t take me too long to achieve every scenario, but it was definitely enjoyable and a nice take on the thought experiment. The visuals are very basic, there is gore to a level, but it can also be turned off. The soundtrack is very calm and relaxing which is surreal when you think of the choices you have to make here.
The Verdict
The Trolley Solution is a nice take on the original thought experiment, I just wish there was more of it. But I definitely enjoyed my time with it, and I’d recommend you give it a try if you want something different from your traditional puzzle games.
