I missed out on the original PS4 release of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 so getting to play it fresh in its best-looking version sounded like a must. The DualSense is also supported in this updated version, bringing it more immersion to sniping with some impressive use of the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
Sniping itself is a learning curve thanks to wind trajectory and so on, but you do also get some nice gadgets to help you and once you’ve learned the basics of sniping, you’ll be shooting long-range targets with confidence.
The locations for each mission are impressive in scale as you scout out the area for your targets and for missions with more than one, you can pick what order you take them out in. It gives you a good level of freedom and I found myself replaying them to find the most effective way to take them out.
It’s not an easy game by any means but its definitely the best sniping sim for the PS5. Add in greatly improved visuals, a solid framerate, short load times plus some decent voice-acting and you not only have the best sniping game I’ve played, but also the best in terms of performance and presentation.
The Verdict
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a seriously impressive sniper simulator with a lot of tools and freedom at your disposal. It can be tough but its fair at the same time, but regardless you’ll keep coming back till you’ve taken out the targets with absolute precision.
