Does this game need carrying?
Carrier Deck is a fast-paced time management game where you play as the Air Boss on board the CVN-76 in the midst of active war.
Carrier Deck is a game where you complete tasks on an aircraft carrier. It’s been out on PC for a long time but has now dropped on consoles. You make your choices by using the on-screen cursor, but it does feel a little slow to use which can make the more time-restricted tasks unnecessarily difficult.
You will take place in search missions to detect air, surface, and submarine threats; deploy intercept missions, special forces, amphibious operations, ground strikes, and cargo dispatches. These are colour-coded, and each mission takes around 10-15 minutes to complete. It is fairly easy to get to grips with once you learn the basics.
It’s essentially all about keeping busy, getting into a flow of receiving/dispatching your aircraft, doing repairs and keeping threats at bay. It can be a bit overwhelming at times while not feeling overly compelling to push forward.
The visuals are a bit on the dull side, looking like an Android/iOS game with the menu interface and the static CVN-76. I didn’t come across any glitches but again, the cursor feels a bit too slow for my liking.
The Verdict
Carrier Deck isn’t going to be to everyone’s tastes. If you enjoy time management and air carriers, then this will satisfy you, although it doesn’t feel as optimised for consoles as it should have been.
