Review: PowerA Wired Controller for Xbox Series X/S

Is this controller PowerAful?

The PowerA Wired Controller for Xbox Series X/S offers the essential features you need for gaming on Xbox. Licenced by Xbox, this controller features dual rumble motors and immersive impulse triggers to bring your virtual worlds to life. Plus, additional features such as a lightweight and comfortable ergonomic design, precision-tuned analogue sticks, anti-friction rings and a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack. Includes an extra-long 10 ft. USB-C cable. Works great on Windows 10/11.

I’ve been in the market for a new Xbox/PC controller for a while and while I always prefer a wireless one, a wired one does come in handy for those times where the others are charging, but I’ve always found those ones to feel a bit cheap and flimsy so was interested to see what this controller from PowerA would be like.

Now, obviously pink wasn’t the colour I had in mind. I was just happy to get a controller thanks to PowerA’s PR team. As for the controller itself, it appears wireless when you take it out of the box but you do need to maintain the connection with a USB-C cable at all times for it to work.

The controller itself feels very comfortable to use and doesn’t feel cheap in comparison to other wired controllers I’ve used in the past. I’ve taken it for a spin on several FPS games like FragPunk, Apex Legends and COD to find it to be effective enough to compete. It’s very light and easy to use, I was really impressed with the quality and how simple it was to connect to my laptop, as well as my Series X.

The Verdict

The PowerA Xbox Wired Controller in Pink (available in other colours, I must specify that!) is a nice affordable alternative and is really good quality for the price. I’d highly recommend it. The pink controller is an Argos exclusive and can be bought here
