One look at Collectible Card Shop Master and you’ll see how similar it is in design to NOSTRA Games’ other title Street Food Restaurant Owner, which I reviewed here. It may be a different type of business sim, but its run similarly and is obviously done in the same engine.
I enjoyed that game quite a bit, so how does it work with a shop selling cards? Surprisingly well, you can buy many different types of cards, stack them on shelves, set the prices for them, set up areas for customers to play in and sell the cards, even dishing out correct change or inputting the amount on a machine for those who are paying by card.
There does seem to be a few more NPC models thrown in here, but some still repeat. The controls are easy to get to grips with and it handles just like Street Food Restaurant Owner, so it was even easier for me to dive straight in.
Again, its not going to win awards for its visuals…but it gets the job done. Core gameplay does become a bit repetitive, but its still a fairly enjoyable sim. It’s less stressful than cooking, but having to deal with change like a real checkout is a bit stressful…I could never do it in real-life, let me tell you!
The Verdict
Collectible Card Shop Master is a decent sim made on a small budget. It does what you’d expect, much like Street Food Restaurant Owner. Both are good at what they do, even if it is limited in its visuals and gameplay. It can still be fun.
