The music of Motown is widely known and has a vast appeal to those who like a bit of soul music, I personally like a bit of Motown…although when playing the game, I soon found out that I had no soul (in the music sense of the word). However, the collection of tracks to be found in this version of Singstar is really something and I personally think its one of the best Singstar games in a while, as long as you like Motown.
I guess that’s the problem with these games which cater to only one type of music, if you don’t like it you won’t enjoy it. But the good news is that there probably is another Singstar game out there with all your favourite tracks anyway and if not, it’s probably in development. Music videos are still in standard definition but the quality is getting better with each game, I hope that eventually they will update these videos to look good on a HDTV as they still look fairly bad….but on a standard def TV it will look just fine.
Motown has the same menus and options as other Singstar games, so don’t go expecting anything new other than the songs and videos. It’s more or less an expansion pack to a working formula which works just fine.
The Verdict
Singstar Motown has no new features, but it has a great selection of tracks that will please any fan of Motown. It has all the classics you would expect and I personally had more fun with this version than any other to date, but that’s just me…you might not enjoy it as much, or you might enjoy it more. As with each game, it’s for the fans of the genre and that’s all.
