Xbox One Review: Tiles

Should you go for a night out on the tiles?

Tiles is a puzzle game in which you have to move from the green tile to the red tile while clearing the blue tiles along the way, sounds simple? Well you’d be wrong as you have to race against the clock, the tiles falling down around you and making life tough for you. There are 90 levels to contend with, but you can also create your own fiendish layouts to share with others and you can try their creations too.

It’s a bit basic as a puzzle game, but it is incredibly cheap at just over £3 and while the visuals are very simplistic, it’s not like it’s false advertising…the game is called Tiles and features nothing but. It also features a local multiplayer and support for Xbox Play Anywhere so you can play it between Xbox One and Windows 10 at one purchase.

There aren’t many games that use this, so it’s nice if you want to play the game on a laptop and then later pick it up where you left on console. The achievements are also fairly basic, but challenging nonetheless.

The Verdict

Tiles is an incredibly basic puzzler, but one that is incredibly cheap. It doesn’t reinvent the puzzle genre, but for just over £3 it’s hard to find fault here with what is a basic, but fun puzzle game.
