PS4 Review: Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

Fly me to the moon (again…)

New nightmares have emerged from the shadows of our Moon. Called forth by haunting visions, Eris Morn has returned. Join her to slay these nightmares before they reach out beyond the Moon to cast humanity back into an age of darkness. Features: New Missions, & Quests; New Destination & Dungeon; New Weapons and Gear to Earn; An All New Raid; and more.

Shadowkeep is the first expansion for Destiny 2 since Bungie took the reins back from Activision and became an independent company, which itself was a big surprise earlier in the year. The base game is now F2P so anyone can jump in, but you’ll need to cough up for the expansion itself which contains a return to the Moon with all new content and gear to tackle.

The story content is a little light, so it’s more like an earlier expansion in this regard and not like Forsaken was, but it’s still a decent amount of content that will please Destiny fans and show that Bungie still mean business, even being independent now…they can still pull off quality content, much to the relief of everyone, myself included.

Destiny’s superb shooting has always been what’s carried me forward, even during the dark times for the series and it shows no sign of going sour with this expansion. The new missions are well designed, while the Moon is nicely detailed, and a new Raid is always welcome.

The Verdict

Shadowkeep is a step in the right direction for the newly independent Bungie. It has a good amount of content for fans and sets things up nicely for future additions or expansions. Let’s hope it isn’t too long before we get more reasons to jump back into Destiny.
