There are some real good dance tracks to get down with. Fans of Just Dance will obviously see the comparisons between it and Singstar Dance, but it’s just as good and more accurate thanks to Move’s controls. You follow the on-screen dancer’s moves and get recognition for getting it in time and correct as you would with a song. It’s tricky, especially if you have no rhythm at all (like me). Also be prepared as the Playstation Eye films everything and seeing your performance back can be either amazing or incredibly embarrassing.

The good news is that the dancing is optional. If you just want to sing you can and with 30 new tracks, it’s a good deal…especially with the price tag of around £20. I personally like Poker Face but found myself singing it in the Cartman style (and did surprisingly well as a result) while many of the other tracks will get you moving, even if you don’t have Move. Despite appearing to be a gimmick, the dancing is fun and the game still feels like Singstar.

The Verdict

Singstar Dance is a good attempt at blending singing and dancing, although it’s odd that you can’t do both simultaneously. You can only do one or the other. It would have been nice to have a mic in one hand and a Move controller in the other for an authentic singing and dancing performance. Despite that, it’s a good package and good value for money. It’s more accurate than the likes of Just Dance, so be prepared to find out if you really are a good dancer or not…
