Still a good party?
Lips and Lips Number One Hits are two decent karaoke games for the 360, now a third game is out a mere few months after the last game…is it too soon for another expansion pack and is the line-up of songs worth the price tag?

You probably recognise most of these songs and while I’m not exactly fond of all the songs, there are some classics in there that will warrant a good time regardless of if you are playing solo or with friends and family. My personal favourite songs in this line-up has to be Is This Love, I Want To Know What Love Is and of course, I Touch Myself (insert gag here) It would have been nice to have some more recent songs like something from Florence and the Machine or Paloma Faith (whom I adore) but I would imagine that will come in the form of DLC over the coming months.
The interface for Lips’ songs is the same as in past games, so don’t go expecting anything drastically different. The good news is that now you can use any USB microphone for those who don’t want to splash out on the wireless microphones. Another Lips game is just around the corner which will cover 80’s songs and I expect the same will apply for that.
It looks like instead of a proper sequel, Lips games keep coming out like expansion packs just like SingStar. It’s a bold move to make, but they must be selling well for them to keep pushing out extra content as DLC or on discs. It’s a shame that you still have to swap discs between games for the tracks you want to play (if you have more than one Lips game) instead of implementing some kind of import feature that makes one disc all you need. You can still shake the wireless mic to keep in beat with the music and even make your avatar dance, but it’s purely for show…although it does add a nice chunk of points to your total.
<b>The Verdict</b>
Besides the new songs, nothing else is new here. That said, Lips: Party Classics is still a good addition to your Lips collection of you are bored of your current songlists. In the end, Lips is a good alternate to SingStar for 360 owners…and that’s good enough for me.
